Faraway Weddings - Meet the Team

Faraway Weddings has been successfully organising weddings since 2004 and, in that time, we have expanded from a team of 5 persons to the current 12.

Everyone at Faraway has an important role to play in creating your perfect wedding day. The weddings we create are meticulously planned and each one is as special to us as the last. Every team member strives to work hard and is professional, experienced and most importantly, friendly.This is very much a team effort and we are fortunate to share an almost family-like atmosphere between us.

The knowledge, experience and job satisfaction we gain from every wedding will give you the confidence and peace of mind that, as well as ensuring that everything goes right on the day, our presence will also add to the enjoyment of the occasion. After all, we're there for you, to take care of everything and to help make your day special and memorable.

Narissa
As the main point of contact for all clients, Narissa is the one person who hopes to have the answers to all your wedding questions! Previously living and working in London as a sound engineer for the BBC, Narissa moved to Koh Samui only recently to become Faraway's Wedding and Events Planner. In her brief time here, she has planned over 80 weddings alone (with more to come!) and has taken to wedding planning like a duck to water. She lives in Koh Samui with her husband and daughter and has a BA (Hons) in Journalism from the University of Sheffield.

Tam
Nobody knows Koh Samui, or can execute weddings, as well as Tam. Born in Donsak, on the mainland, Tam would come to Koh Samui as a child to visit his relatives and therefore knows the island like the back of his hand. He has been working as a Faraway Wedding Coordinator for over 3 years and as one of the orginal team members, has helped supervise and coordinate hundreds of weddings. He lives in Koh Samui with his wife and has had over 15 years experience in the hotel hospitality industry.

Metta
As the other Faraway Wedding Coordinator, Metta works closely with both Tam and Narissa and has been a part of the Faraway wedding team since 2005. She not only has a great knack in sourcing unusual wedding favours but is also our expert in legal and flower matters, as well as being exceptionally artistic and talented. Originally from Bangkok, Metta graduated from university with a Bachelor of Arts in English and has lived in Koh Samui for over 3 years.

Cee
Originally from Nakohn Si Thammarat, on the mainland, Cee moved to Koh Samui over 6 years ago. After working at a dive shop for 4 years, she then joined the Faraway wedding team as a Wedding Planning Assistant in 2006. She also doubles up as Reservations Manager for villa and hotel bookings via the Faraway Reservations website. A versatile and essential member of our team, Cee has been involved in over 150 weddings and currently lives in Chaweng.

Nong
Nong hails from a town called Phichit, up in the north of Thailand, in what is called 'Crocodile Country'. Since graduating from college as a mechanic and moving to Koh Samui over 7 years ago, he has worked in many diverse industries, including a dive shop and Pepsi-Cola Inc. Nong joined Faraway over a year ago. In that time, he has injected his own sense of fun and humour to the team and has become a talented and gifted bartender. His speciality is producing an exceptional Mai Tai or Pina Colada that is guaranteed to make you come back for more.

Yow
As well as being the youngest in age, Yow is also the newest addition to the team and has only lived in Koh Samui for less than a year. Prior to this, Yow lived and worked in Bangkok and has a great knowledge of Thailand; having spent many years driving long haul trucks up and down the country. Born in Ubon, in the north east of Thailand, Yow has proven himself to be one of the most hardworking and eager member of the team.

Pen
Pen, or Penpi, as we call her, is one of the original Faraway Weddings team member and as Office Manager, is in charge of managing and mothering all the other team members. Hailing from Bangkok, Pen moved to Koh Samui over six years ago and is also in charge of accounts and finance and works hard at making sure that everyone pays Faraway - as well as being in charge of paying everyone! A holder of two bachelor degrees from a Bangkok university, Pen lives with her dog, Tofu, and also teaches aerobics in her spare time.

Thip
Thip is solely responsible for the care and upkeep of the villa and is therefore one of the key members of the Faraway Weddings team. Her gentle and talented touch can be found in every part of a wedding from the handcrafted floral chair decorations to the delicate finishes of a canape. Originally from Korat, Thip moved to Koh Samui a year ago to join Faraway Weddings but has quickly made herself a popular and vital addition to the team.

Dennis
Originally from the UK, Dennis came to Koh Samui over 6 years ago via San Francisco, after spending 25 years working for a high-tech computer firm in the Silicon Valley. Affectionately known as Loong Den or Uncle Den, he is also co-founder and Managing Partner of Faraway Weddings and is responsible for all things technical, both in the office and with all our websites. As well as working alongside Cee on the hotel and villa reservations side of things, Dennis is also actively involved in the coordination, marketing and setting up for weddings.

Darren
As co-founder and the other Managing Partner of Faraway Weddings, Darren has lived and worked in Koh Samui for over 12 years. Prior to this, Darren was a professional tennis coach in England and has also been to college to train as a chef. Constantly motivating and encouraging everyone working for Faraway to achieve even higher standards, he's the driving force behind Faraway Weddings and plays a principal role in a variety of tasks from running the business, to website design and development, to making canapes for weddings.
